Unless you purchase an original painting, you rarely inspect the back of a canvas. When you buy an original piece, you will notice on the back of every canvas there is a signature, 2 Roman numerals (VIII • IV), and a butterfly. These back-of-the-canvas homages are in honor of my Nana, who always knew I would be a successful artist. Unfortunately, she passed away before my career ever took off, so I put her on every painting to look after and protect the piece.
